Do you want to perform research at the Cincinnati Zoo?<\/h2>\n

AZA believes that contemporary animal management, husbandry, veterinary care, and conservation practices should be\u00a0based in science<\/a>, and that a commitment to scientific research, both basic and applied, is a trademark of the modern zoological park and aquarium.\u00a0AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums<\/a>\u00a0have the invaluable opportunity and are expected to, conduct or facilitate research both in\u00a0in situ<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0ex situ<\/em>\u00a0settings to advance scientific knowledge of the animals in our care, enhance the conservation of wild populations, and engage and inspire the visiting public.<\/p>\n

In 2020, 160 AZA-accredited and certified related facilities reported spending approximately $20.5\u00a0million on\u00a0research efforts that impacted over\u00a0600 species and subspecies. How to Submit Proposal<\/h3>\n

All animal research performed at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden must be reviewed and approved by the Animal Management Team. To submit your research request, please complete this short form, where you will be asked to upload your research proposal and associated documents directly: Research Request Form<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Your proposal may follow the AZA Standardized research format, which can be found here,<\/a> or be any other format of your choice but must include background\/justification, hypothesis, specific aims, methods, and significance\/outcomes detailing how the proposed activities will improve the welfare and\/or conservation of the species or individuals of interest.<\/p>\n
